From Beige to Bold: A Red Front Door Transformation

A front door can set the tone for an entire home. For this project, a beige entryway got a fresh look with a rich red finish that highlights the door’s decorative details and glass panels.

The original door already had plenty of character. Its patterned glass, raised panels, and ornamental trim gave us a beautiful starting point. A change in color brought those features into focus while keeping the familiar style of the entrance.

The progress photo offers a look at the work behind the transformation. With the door removed and positioned flat, the glass panels were masked to keep them protected during painting. The surrounding drop cloths helped protect the work area.

The color change extended to the matching sidelight, creating a coordinated entrance. Against the light-colored outer trim, the red makes the doorway stand out and gives the decorative glass a stronger frame. The existing metal hardware adds a finishing touch.

One of the most satisfying parts of this project is seeing how different the same door can feel.

The glass, panels, and details are still there, but the new color gives the entrance a more distinctive presence.
